Poor Trelise

On Friday Trelise woke up with a headache. You know those times where you are really unsure if you child is unwell - well it was one of those. I gave her some Panadol and she perked up.

It will surprise no one that Trelise has another quirk! A love of Panadol. Where other parents have to force this medication into their children my big girl just loves it. To the point where if she sees it she will make up illnesses or injuries in the hope of getting some of that pink goodness! Lucky for me she is not up with lying properly yet so a simple question "Does it really hurt or do you just want the Panadol?" generally sorts out it!

I really debated not sending her to creche but in the end I thought that once she was there she would be fine. Didn't help matters that Poppa was coming to paint our bathroom and I could see her throwing herself at the newly painted walls all day!

I did however speak to one of the teachers at creche when I dropped her off and explained that I thought she was ok but she had complained of not feeling well and I had given her Panadol. I said that I was around and if Trelise looked at all unwell (and could they err on the side of caution) please give me a call and I would come and pick her up.

Of course I didn't get a call and when I went to pick her up I found her curled up on a big armchair, wrapped in a blanket, trying to sleep. Another teacher said to me "She's been like that all afternoon, We didn't think she was very well but we didn't want to bother you" The look of horror on my face must have been pretty evident as I explained that I had asked to be called straight away if she looked at all unwell. I get that most families have two working parents and to be called if you child is unwell is inconvenient so they try to avoid calling parents unless they are really sure a child is sick.

You know those times when you get a huge case of Mummy guilts - well this is one of those times! I should have not taken her, or at least not trusted that I would be called!

It makes me really cross that the teacher I spoke to walked past Trelise all afternoon
and obviously ignored my unwell child. We only have a few weeks left otherwise I would be making a complaint.

Anyway Trelise is now fully recovered and back to her usual bouncy self.

BTW - the bathroom looks great! I'll be putting pictures of our mass transformation up soon so you can all see why I've been missing in action!

Sydney

Well I'm back! Well been back for a bit but have been chasing my tail catching up with everything!

I had a wonderful trip and made the most of my child free status!

I know that alot of you will be awaiting my pictures of Sydney that you would expect to look like this....

or this...

or even this...

But instead my pictures look like this....

and this....

I spent a whole day and I mean a whole day in the magnificent place that is Ikea. I spent alot of money and then had to haul my booty back to Katie and Mal's on the train. I placed the heavy items in Wayne's huge pack and then the overflow was contained in another large bag. I only made it outside the door before realising that there was NO way I was able to make it to the train station - but hey that's what taxi drivers are for! Everyone was amazed at my determination and cunning and marveled at the beautiful items I had returned with. Lucky for me Katie was waiting at the other end - ready to haul my goodie's back to her place. It's a crime that New Zealand doesn't have an Ikea (but probably a blessing to my credit card!). There is more to the ikea story but that's another post!

But for the real reason I made the trip over the Tasman - Katie and Mal's wedding. I couldn't think of a more perfect day - with a wonderful venue

and one of the most stunning brides I have ever seen

Katie - you did such a amazing job in organising your big day. It was perfect in every way! Thank you for inviting me to be such a part of it. I loved every minute.

Here's Leeane and Arounee the bridemaids - poor Arounee got to room with me!

Here is the 4! Ally, Me, Bridgette and Katie. We had a great time together at the reception!

For all my bloggy friends - I'm sorry but I'm so behind I have no hope to comment - I'm reading all your posts but it's going to take me some time to get back on top!

I'm on my way to the airport now for 4 days without my husband and kids in Sydney!

I'm excited - but also a little sad to be leaving them :(

See you soon Katie!

Hi-5

On Saturday Trelise and I got ready left Wayne with the babies and caught the bus into town to see Hi-5. It was my first experience with kiddie theatre and was a bit of an eye opener for me!

As we entered the Michael Fowler Centre there were a huge amount of desperate parents handing over wads (and I mean wads) of cash for Hi 5 merchandise. Realising that my child also needed a wand I joined the mass. We waited for a good 15 minutes to be served (seriously!) my jaw was just dropping at the amount of money being handed over. I am pleased that we purchased the wand as it proved very handy later on.

We went to our seats waving our wand and very excited to find that premium seating at this venue does not mean you necessarily get a full view of the stage. We were so far over that from our seats we could only see half the stage - you could say I was cross! Thankfully I remembered that a friend had been in previous years and had complained to me that children were allowed to come up the front thereby blocking her view - so I made sure that we were all packed up to go and as soon as the show started Trelise and I ran up the front to get a prime position in front of the stage. So that disaster was adverted!

The show started and Trelise was very excited and seemed to enjoy the show alot. Because we were not in our seats and Trelise was wandering around in front of the stage getting lost was a bit of a problem. Lucky for the wand! I used it as a beacon to wave the big girl back to me when I saw her looking around worried! Right at the end she dropped the wand, it was on the ground for about 30 seconds and another woman picked it up to steal it - I'm not kidding! My forward child storms up to the woman and grabs it out of her hand! She stuttered to me I was going to hand it in at the office - as if I would believe that!

I'm not so keen on the new Hi 5 team member Steve however sort of reminded me of a drunken aussie on the pull! Maybe I had a soft spot for Tim however!
