Wordful Wednesday

It's so not fair! - while I was eating sand one of my sisters was busy piling sand on my head. I'm a bit sick that's why my eyes are red - Jules

The Race!

Next to the kindy is a BMX track. As some of the kids at kindy have been playing motorcycle racing games the teachers decided to take the kids on a little outing and have races around the track.

Good idea right?

Nope!

Trelise was so excited about running the race and quite happily today put on her sneakers (and that's a miracle in itself!) and pretty much ran all the way to kindy. Her level of excitement was pretty much level with all the other kids.

Off she went and the race began!

But the track has recently been resurfaced and was slipperly and caused grazes when the kids fell. I felt so sorry for the teachers. And sorry for my little racer as she has grazes all down her legs.

To get the kids inside they needed to do one last race. I'm not sure Trelise has the idea of ready, 1, 2, 3, Go yet as she stood there while all the kids ran past. But then determination kicked in and she was off.

That kid is fast when she wants to be and she made up alot of ground and was pretty much at the front of the pack (and there is 40+ kids) and then disaster struck.

She saw me

and saw me cheering her on

Caused my child to lose her marbles. I went to collect her off the track and settle her down.

Why was she crying?

Because she wasn't winning!!!

The apple doesn't fall to far from the tree!

I'm Obsessive!

For those that don't know me in real life you might be surprised to know that I'm obsessive!

Sometimes it pays off and I'm rewarded.

Today I got an email saying that 9 of these are coming my way! I only asked for 6 but I'll take 9!

Getting these has been a long road and you might ask why I would even want them! Well I brought 3 of them while visiting Katie in Australia.

When we moved here I realised I needed lots of lampshades as currently these sort of things reside in my house.

I made trip after trip to lighting shops but everything was either ugly or to expensive.

I begged Katie to take pity on me and make a trip to Ikea and bring me the lampshades I desired. She looked and sadly they were all sold out.

For a less obsessive person this would be the end of the story!

I looked and looked at Ikea country sites all over the world seeing if they sold the shades I was looking for. I checked Scotland first thinking that Kath would be used of my obsessive tendencies and would give me a bit of grief but then would do it. Sadly you can't buy them in Scotland anymore - or Newcastle where Wayne has family.

Branching out I tried Sweden - the home of Ikea and where we have friends but no all gone there!

Then I concerntrated on the states thinking that surely a blogger friend of mine could be convinced that this little errand would be worth doing to make a little NZ girl very happy. But no luck there.

Finally as I was at the end of my search Wayne piped up try China - I have a workmate who is there getting married. So I did and Bejing was the only store to have them and lucky for me he managed to pop over and pick them up. I got an email this morning saying 10-15 days.

10-15 days until the ugly lampshades in my house will be banished (apart from the ones in the lounge as that is a whole new story!)

Camping Take 2!

We decided to have another shot at camping. Last time had a few misfortunes however with a trip to the Warehouse to replace the airbed and a car full of excited girls we headed off.

Now New Zealand has lots of exciting places to camp and most families would choose places like this
or this
or even this
instead the Oliver's chose

LEVIN!
Camp Oliver is not a tidy place!
and is filled with children running away with camp supplies - bring back our olives Juliette!!
Trelise spent many many hours jumping on a trampoline with a new friend
Trelise spent quite a large amount of time running after "Cameron" and every opportunity she would try and give him a cuddle! T's first crush!!
All packed up and ready to go home

Trelise's First Swimming Lesson

Finally I've taken Trelise to swimming lessons!

I refused to do the baby and me classes when she was a baby as I was not happy about getting into swimming togs in public! And it's pretty much slipped under the radar until now!

Here is Super Mermaid Girl ready for action

Trelise is in the Seahorse class. It's a small swim school with is great as all the kids get lots of attention.
If you click on this next picture you can see how happy she is!

Somehow I expect it won't be long before either Madeleine or Juliette throws themselves into the pool!

Morning Kindy

Yesterday we had the news that we were waiting for! A place had opened up in morning kindy!! Morning kindy runs every morning from 8.45am - to either 11.45 or 12.45pm and has children from 4 - 5 years old. Trelise has been going to the afternoon session since we moved up here and has enjoyed it but really needs to be with older children.

Trelise was very excited as we headed off this morning. Paraparaumu Beach Kindergarden is just down the road from our house so we make the short walk with Trelise riding her bike and Maddie and Jules in the buggy. I picked up a happy girl at the end of the session.

On the way home we got more smiles from passersby than usual - why? Maddie and Jules have learnt to wave and like to show their new skill to everyone going by! It's so cute!

Bird Pictures

While at the beach I was a little obsessed with trying to take pictures of the seagulls flying around us.

I think they turned out pretty good!

Tram Ride at Queen Elizabeth Park

Kellie, Keri and I with all our kids headed to Queen Elizabeth Park and took a tram to the beach. We had a picnic and a swim at the beach before catching the tram back to the car.
This is the whole tribe - I just realised that all three of us have the same family structure with an older singleton and then a set of twins - three sets of twins in this picture!
Trelise is fully into her can't stop talking phase. The tram driver was a lovely man who clearly loved kids and didn't seem to mind little lise's conversations!
Here's our tram!

Here's me with Mads and Jules - I'm always behind the camera so there is very few pictures of me!

View from the tram of the beautiful Kapiti CoastYay here's the beach
Trelise and Athena doing their girlie things!

And of course we need to finish off with an ice block!

Trelise, Madeleine and Juliette were all asleep within 1 minute of the car starting to go home. We had such a great time!

Trelise's 4th Birthday Party

After much work and planning Trelise's birthday party finally arrived!

We had a fairy theme and a visit from Fairy Trina.
We are probably the only hosts of a fairy party where the birthday girl refused to dress as a fairy! Madeleine and Juliette didn't let the side down however!

Fairy Trina's show was as ever fantastic and all the kids had a magnificent time

Here's Maddie caught in the act of pushing buttons that she shouldn't.

What's a party without some sugar!

Fairy Trina and my doll - two of Jules favourite things!

Trelise's cake this year was a fairy castle. I brought some fairies and then forgot to put them on it!

Trelise was desperate for me to make real fairy cakes - they turned out much better than I feared! My first attempt however looked like drunk, fat fairy blobs!
At the end of the night a lion appeared and terrorised us all!
