Because it wanted to stretch it's legs!

It's Trelise's favourite joke!

Usually followed by "Get it, Ha Ha, Get it!"

I was wrong Mummy

With the kitten tucked under one arm Trelise said to me "the cat doesn't need his teeth brushed"

Yes she did use her own toothbrush - thankfully not mine!

Wordful Wednesday

Yesterday I went into my kitchen and this made me scream!

What's wrong with a little margarine? Nothing as long as I'm the one using it. If you are wondering what happens when the Pea's get it. Here you go!

Don't you just love the margarine face mask that Madeleine is sporting! Two hair washing later and we still have a margarine shine going on!

For those of you that want a hand close up - here you go!
The damage of course wasn't limited to my little monkeys. My couch took a bit of a hit.

and of course the floor

and there was a bit of addition to the current M and J artwork on display in the lounge!

Sadly for me I think it's genetic - remember this post?

Oliver Update

It's been ages since I posted and my only excuse is a bit of sickness and the end of winter.

I'm back doing things around the house and it feels fabulous! I've got one more thing to do in our front garden and then I'll post pictures of it.

Our building work is coming along. We have got plans back from the architect and have had a builder price them. The price came back well under what were anticipated so we have started the consent process today. It should take about 20 working days and then we can start building.

Trelise is really enjoying Kindy and has been desperate to get there everyday which makes a nice change. I think it has something to do with the tree that is blossoming in the garden - she is really into plants and flowers. We have been working on her speech after a consulation with a speech therapist. I've seen some changes but I'm not totally convinced on progress. We are still to be evaluated by the public system here and that should be coming up soon so I'm looking forward to hearing what they will say.

Madeleine and Juliette are currently sick for really the first time this winter so I can't really complain. They had a big developmental test last week and it didn't go very well. I'm guessing the report won't really tell us much. At least it was clear to the therapist that they were capable of things just refusing to perform.

Wayne's got his boat back from being serviced and he is very pleased to have his baby home. He is currently building a man cave in the back garden. I went to check it out this morning and I'm a little concerned at the size of it. I'm thinking he might be planning to build a seperate house for himself to live in the garden! Sometimes I wouldn't blame him!!!

Our newest member of our household Morimoto is settling in well. It's strange having a kitten in the house again and I'll be pleased when those little kitten teeth fall out. He likes to bite your feet as you are walking along. He doesn't seem to be fazed with being stepped on! He is good with the dogs and spends a bit of time driving Carlos crazy by darting out of his range. It would be funny but the dogs persistent barking drives me bonkers!

Ever wondered what happens if you leave a small child alone with pens and yogurt.

I'm glad I now know!

There is an elephant on my heart

Today we said goodbye to Freddy. While being happy and active he had deteriorated over the past few days and was no longer eating. We had decided to keep him going until he no longer had quality of life and sadly this morning we decided that he had had enough.

Fred - you were the best cat we could have ever asked for and we thank you for years of love. We miss you xxx

Wordful Wednesday - Rocket

My Wordful Wednesday post today is to introduce 'Rocket' Even though we are yet to lose Fred I'm truly excited about the insanity that is about to join our family. Currently he has been named Rocket but I'm thinking we might be able to come up with something better.

What do you think? Suggestions?

In case anyone is wondering - Rocket is still in Christchurch waiting to fly up once Freddy is no longer with us.

Freddy Update

Well it's not looking good for the old boy. Steroids have perked him up for the past week and it's given me at least some time to get my head around losing him. We woke up this morning to him vomiting again so I'm guessing that the steroids are no longer having the same effect. He seems happy and has been outside today but I'm guessing that it will only be a couple of days before we make the decision to have him put down.

It seems a bit disrespectful to have already lined up our next furry addition to our family but I have! The thought of being cat-less was very sad and strangely deciding on a cat breed has given me some comfort.

What have we decided? A Havana!

I've been very lucky and have found a 4 month old boy who is ready and waiting for a home. There seems to be only 2 breeders in New Zealand. I spoke to the breeder this afternoon and is is happy for him to come and join us.

Freddy

My 18th year was tough. I look back now and the only good thing was a little grey kitten I rescued from the SPCA. I remember the first time I saw him vividly he was fighting one of his litter mates. I thought he had spunk. I brought him home on the bus and decided on the journey that his name was to be Frederick - Fred or Freddy for short.

In the past 16 years he's collected many names. Grey Boy, Jungle Boy, Freddy Ready, Freddy Foo, or just Foo Foo. My life and all the memories in it are intertwined with a little grey cat.

In all the good times and bad he has been sleeping next to my head always ready for a pat or a cuddle. Every time I leave the house I look forward to coming home and seeing him.

I thought I was prepared for the news I heard today. I knew he was sick and I hoped that it was a reaction to medication or just hair balls. But no he's got a tumour in his chest next to his stomach. The vet thinks that he has a few days to a few weeks to live. My heart is broken and I'm not sure how I'm going to get through the next wee while knowing that shortly he's not going to be with us.

Happy Birthday Madeleine and Juliette

Happy Birthday to you,
Happy Birthday to you,
Happy Birthday dear Madeleine and Juliette,
Happy Birthday to you!

Oh My - It's hard to believe that my 3.3 pound (1.5 kilo) and 3.5 pound (1.6 kilo) babies are now 2!

Those tiny scrawny little girls are now still scrawny but can run, climb and jump. They love to dance and draw and play with each other and their big sister. They are starting to talk and have lots of words and are starting to say more sentences.

We transformed the house into a under the sea themed event to celebrate the big 2!

Birthday Girl Miss Madeleine

Birthday Girl Miss Juliette

Saving me a huge amount of work I ordered pizza instead of doing the usual party food and I think it worked out cheaper!

The cake was a hit

That is more icing than a small girl should eat!

And presents - lots and lots of presents!

And one of my highlights of the day - a great family photo!

M and J's 2nd Birthday Party - The Countdown is on!

Well the countdown is well and truly on as the party is tomorrow!

We are having a under the water theme. I have little mermaid costumes for Maddie and Jules and Trelise of course already has a mermaid number that she is quite fond of pulling out.

Planning is all going well and I'm far more under control than previous parties. I have a little more cleaning to do and the decorations have to go up and toys to entertain the children have to be put out.

And most importantly the cakes are done!

Here is Juliette's Octopus - she thinks it's a doggie

and for Madeleine a fish

Watch out for more party pictures!

NZ Post

We moved from Wellington 6 months ago now - you would think our mail redirection would have been sorted out in this time. But no!

I could honestly scream! It's such a simple thing. Pay $85 and for a whole year NZ post will redirect any mail that is addressed to us at our old address and send it to our new one.

Our problems started with moving to Wayne's parents for two weeks while we waited for settlement on the house. I would have just held our mail but this stops all mail to the property and our downstairs tennant Johno would not have been pleased with this so instead I redirected from 20 Sutherland Crescent to Wayne's parents address. That worked.

We moved into our new house and so I redirected from 20 Sutherland Crescent to our new house. Well I thought I did however NZ Post then redirected from Wayne's parents to our new house. Strangely not much mail comes to you at an address that you have only been in for two weeks!

I rang and was told it was fixed. And of course it wasn't. I rang again and was told that it couldn't be done over the phone and I had to drag my tribe to the postshop to provide identification for it to be changed.

Now my children will be perfect angels until they get through the door of a post shop! I don't know why I seem to always get a huge queue and I end up having moaning and whining children which seems to stop as soon as we are out the door.

So now all the addresses are right but still mail not redirected - more and more phone calls and visits to the branch.

Then it all seems good.

Until parcels of mail start arriving again with Johno's handwriting. I take a deep breath and hope that it's just a one off. But of course it's not.

But today we have got mail for 15 Sutherland Crescent! So we can't get our own mail but have no problem receiving mail for another household!

Arrrrrrrrrrrrrrgh!

The Good, The Bad and the Disgusting!

This post is all about Trelise.

The Good - every Wednesday another Kindy mother who lives across the road picks Trelise up and takes her home for an hour to play with her daughter and then she drops her home once they are done. I said this morning if she didn't feel like having her then it was fine to drop her home straight away. Emma said "Oh no I love having Trelise over - when Maniah is home alone with her baby sister she is quite mean to her and never lets her play in her games. But when Trelise is over at our house, Trelise includes the little girl in their games and I just love seeing my girls play nicely together" It's reminded me on how lovely and kind my big girl can be.

The bad - this morning Miss Trelise has been a toad - She woke up late and has pretty much been grumpy and bad tempered!

The disgusting! Trelise has a cold with a runny nose. To drive her mother nuts this morning she hid from me behind a door. I opened the door and saw that she had a huge amount of snot running down (and I do mean huge) "Oh my! You need a wipe!" I said to my big girl and ran to get them - trotting after me Trelise replied "I've got some on my hands" I turned to look and yip she had been behind the door blowing her nose into her hand - she had a big handful of snot.

Yuck!

Samoa - Turtle Pond

Looks like an ordinary pond doesn't it

But it's filled with big turtles - we threw them bread and they ate it.

Trelise loved it. Madeleine and Juliette weren't to fussed!

Samoa - Island Night

Island Night!

It was loud and hot but that didn't stop Trelise from making her way to the stage for a bit of island dancing

She even managed to make it up on the stage for the finale!
And to finish off - fire dancing

Jules usually so confident couldn't handle the fire dancing :( Because it was so loud I didn't hear anything wrong until I looked down to find a small girl in tears with Madeleine patting her and giving her cuddles. While it broke my heart to see my poppet so upset I loved how Maddie was comforting her sister :)

Samoa - pool pictures

What's a trip to a hot tropical island without swimming!

The resort had a great pool and we made use of it!
Maddie and her water wings

Miss TreliseJules (top) and Maddie liked to get in and out and in and out of the pool.

This is Jules taking a ball off a baby and then fleeing!
