On Saturday Trelise and I got ready left Wayne with the babies and caught the bus into town to see Hi-5. It was my first experience with kiddie theatre and was a bit of an eye opener for me!
As we entered the Michael Fowler Centre there were a huge amount of desperate parents handing over wads (and I mean wads) of cash for Hi 5 merchandise. Realising that my child also needed a wand I joined the mass. We waited for a good 15 minutes to be served (seriously!) my jaw was just dropping at the amount of money being handed over. I am pleased that we purchased the wand as it proved very handy later on.
We went to our seats waving our wand and very excited to find that premium seating at this venue does not mean you necessarily get a full view of the stage. We were so far over that from our seats we could only see half the stage - you could say I was cross! Thankfully I remembered that a friend had been in previous years and had complained to me that children were allowed to come up the front thereby blocking her view - so I made sure that we were all packed up to go and as soon as the show started Trelise and I ran up the front to get a prime position in front of the stage. So that disaster was adverted!
The show started and Trelise was very excited and seemed to enjoy the show alot. Because we were not in our seats and Trelise was wandering around in front of the stage getting lost was a bit of a problem. Lucky for the wand! I used it as a beacon to wave the big girl back to me when I saw her looking around worried! Right at the end she dropped the wand, it was on the ground for about 30 seconds and another woman picked it up to steal it - I'm not kidding! My forward child storms up to the woman and grabs it out of her hand! She stuttered to me I was going to hand it in at the office - as if I would believe that!
I'm not so keen on the new Hi 5 team member Steve however sort of reminded me of a drunken aussie on the pull! Maybe I had a soft spot for Tim however!

Hmmm...I've never heard of this group before. Are they like the Wiggles?
Sounds like an interesting and fun outing!! I have never heard of them either...I'll have to do some research!!
kids shows have a way of making me feel like the drunk sailor spinning if i hear another goofy song...
i'm so glad ur kiddo loved it. looks like they might be something like doodle bops here in the states...which i am not a fan of...but #3 loves, of course!
Sounds like over all you had fun! I am thinking like the Wiggles, as well?
Oh SO fun!!!!! My girls LOVE hi-5 (its on Noggin here in the US - but VERY VERY early here before 7am!)
I LOVE Trelise. She is my kind of gal. Speaking up for herself so young! You will not hav to worry about her in middle school!
I am behind in reading, so first LOVE your Wordful Wednesdays. Way too cute! Congrats on the upcoming move :) The packing/moving part stinks, but will be so rewarding in the end. And, finally, how great that you were able to get out with Trelise. She was probably a very happy little princess!
My daughters are nusto about Hi-5...but we know nothing about the new cast. We just watch and re-watch the TV show.
Fun! I took my girls to see the Disney live on stage and it was so much fun. I bet Trelise was in heaven running around near the stage.
Ohhhh and some moms can be so ruthless. We have had our share of those situations :)
Too funny. Can't believe someone would steal the wand from a little girl. The nerve!
I have often thought about taking the kiddos to a show. Not sure I am up for it though. I think my kids might be shocked too!
What? The who? They are High on What? So confused.
And glad little Trelise is learning the ropes...You teach her!
