Rainy Adventure

It's the middle of winter and even after a bit of taunting Wayne has taken the girls on a rainy adventure.

First no one wanted to go and then Juliette decided that she would.  Wayne dressed her in a thermal, tinkerbell costume, jersey, raincoat, sunhat and gumboots.

Trelise and Madeleine refused to go.  They went to leave and Madeleine had a change of heart so she was all dressed up in wet weather gear.  Trelise still refused to go.  As they were leaving Trelise decided that she to would come on the adventure.  All dressed up they headed out.

How will this adventure end?

At 13 minutes Trelise and Madeleine arrived home.  Trelise screaming (surprise, surprise) but Madeleine in good spirits.  Juliette and Wayne headed back out to feed some wet ducks!

Update on Jo

It's July 2012 and my life is about to change.  In two weeks all of my gorgeous girls will be at school.  No more kindy, no more playgroups, no more pre-schooler activities.  In the last year I will have gone from no child free time to being child free 30 hours a week!

In one hand I'm pleased and ready for my family to grow up but on the other hand I'm a little sad.  Sometimes when I'm giving Madeleine a cuddle I'm taken back 5 years to neonates and our first cuddle at 2 days old.  I look down and I'm surprised to see a big head of curly hair!

Having a monoamniotic twin pregnancy was one of the hardest things I've ever had to face.  But 5 years on that blur of appointments, ultrasounds, hospital in-patient and neonates has faded and I'm left with two little girls who I'm still incredibly grateful to have.  I do still worry about the effects of premature birth and the repeated rounds of steroids the girls had.  They are still little (but not so much compared with their peers now), I'm not happy with their speech but I'm hopeful that starting school will help with this (as it did with Trelise).

My blonde bandit hasn't changed that much.  She is still loud and totally out there.  She is doing well at school this year and is up to National Standard for reading - not so for maths and writing but I'm confident that it will all work out in the end.

We are nearing the end of our house renovation.  What we thought would be a quick and easy do up turned into a mammoth 3 - 4 year exercise.   Of course now we are nearing the end our minds have turned to where do we want to move to next!

I've almost finished training to be a Davis Facilitator.  After over 7 years at home I'm really looking forward to getting out and working.  As well as earning money I'll be able to make a difference in other children, adults and families lives.  I can't wait!  Davis has pretty much taken up all of my free time in the last year.

I've lost weight, put on weight, lost weight and put it back on!

It's been a long time

I'm back - I hope!

It's been a year since my last post.  A big year!

I might be accused of favoritism!

It's Wayne's Birthday tomorrow so I made him a cake. I'm usually known for my cakes and I'm guessing that this one will be the same but for different reasons!

The cake tin I used didn't have the effect I was hoping for and I let the girls decorate it. I'm beginning to think that giant cupcake mould wasn't such a bargain! Also 6 year olds tend to eat more icing than they put on the cake - who would have guessed that!

I think he will be surprised!

Just to prove I haven't lost my touch! I also made a cake for my friend Genna's birthday party tomorrow - she is having a Barbie BBQ and this is what I came up with.

Rain, Rain Go Away

I've never been a fan of spring. Sure the weather is warmer and blossoms are pretty and even I can admit that baby animals are cute but instead of winters cold calm days we get rain and wind.

I was not jumping for joy when I read the weather forecast for the next week!

Monday - Showers, some heavy. Northerlies dying out.

Tuesday - Few showers, rain from evening. Northerly strengths.

Wednesday - Morning rain clearing. Southerly then northwest.

Thursday - Cloud increasing, rain by evening. Northerlies.

Friday - Showers with northerlies 40 km/h

Saturday - Showers, clearing late in the afternoon to fine weather. Northwesterlies 40 km/h.

Sunday - A partly cloudy morning, then showers. Northerlies 30 km/h dying away.

Arrrrrgggghhhh!

It's be mean to Jo week!

Do you ever have one of those weeks where nothing goes right?

I'm so over it all!!!

I had a woman at school tell me off for not dressing my children warmly. The fact that the sun was shining, it was warm and that she herself was wearing a chiffon top seemed to have bypassed her!

Then at playgroup I had dressed Madeleine and Juliette the same which is a bit unusual as I don't have many matching clothes left - most of ours are coordinated now. Funny enough my friend just commented that a Dad that comes to playgroup doesn't like her and everytime she speaks to him he makes her feel like she is a waste of space - I'd never had a problem with him before. He decides to comment on the fact that my girls are dressed the same and how wrong it was and why didn't I get a doll instead!

Then Kindy told me that because they are changing their hours instead of getting a place in 2 weeks as expected it would now be November if I was lucky. There was tears - all mine!

Toilet paper is a limited resource in our house - part 2!

Following on from my last toilet paper post!

I was storing my stock of toilet paper in the bathroom to avoid rolls being disposed of down the bowl. Smart eh!

Not when you leave your children unsupervised in the bath and come back to find that your whole stock of loo rolls is now resembling a pulp and paper mill in the bath!

Children 9 - loo paper 0!
